Potty Training Updates

What is it with the recent onslaught of everyone updating the world on the progress of their child's potty training?

I am sure this is very exciting, but I do not need to know your child has started pooping in the potty or has been wearing real panties for two days without an accident.  And, so you all know, I can't write "panties" without cringing a little.

What gives? Or are you all thinking, "Oh you'll understand if you are ever a parent..."

You are hilarious! After I read your post, I thought of Brit potty training Cyrus. At least you don't have to do that with Conor.

Guilty! Its because it is the worse thing ever and we need an outlet. Ha! So sorry.

That's funny, I just read about my nephew doing some potty training just yesterday. And to be honest, I didn't mind. Because I love him. :) But I can see not wanting to hear about someone else's potty training.

I'm with ya! I suspect it simply has to do with the joy of departure from diaper dependency, and one's child's bowel movements being the biggest events of one's day.

Are you referring to Facebook? Well, let me tell you I've only been changing Michael's diapers for 5 months and I'm already brainwashing him about how wonderful going on the potty is! I think it's a huge milestone in a parent's life to not be changing that kid's bum anymore, so they post it on Facebook. You better believe when Michael is 19 months old and decides all on his own one day to be done with diapers, I will post it on Facebook :) ha, ha, that is my dream anyway!

You crack me up Larissa!

Honestly, when you're potty training a child, it consumes every ounce of your energy, time, and brain cells. It is all you can think about. And it is one of the hardest things in the world to accomplish. That's probably why people are (over)sharing. They want to express their frustruations as well as their successes.

This post cracks me up because I feel the same way! It does seem like over-sharing, and at the same time I can see how it can seem like such a victory. The child is going from dependent baby/toddler to little boy/girl! That's a big deal! The next big thing will probably be "I can't believe my baby's going to kindergarten already!" Love it!

Holy cow! Sorry, I've been doing that...but in my defense, it REALLY is exciting not to have to change nasty diapers!!

Ha ha - I'm not mad about it, I just find it amusing and confusing. I totally get what you parents out there are saying though - makes sense!
