Choir Director

I have been serving as choir director for my ward (congregation) for about 20 months now. Yesterday, my replacement was called and I was released from my service.

I'm excited to be assigned to my next service opportunity, yet I'm sad to let go of something that made me a much stronger person both mentally and spiritually- challenging me to the point of tears many times. I love all of the choir members so very much and have endless gratitude towards them for everything they did - dedicating all of those hours to rehearsals/performances/consuming my fresh baked cookies every week. In the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "Music is the language spoken by angels." My life has been filled with angels!

Creamy Caramel Nest Eggs

I stopped by fake Albertson's (those scoundrels changed my beloved Albertson's to Fresh Market, tempting me to "get fresh" with them, but I restrain) to pick up some pickles for my new favorite Veggie Burgers.
I walked down the aisle and my vision started to blur with excitement as the pastels of the most delicious candy of the year passed before mine eyes. Then, I saw destiny, my loves, the thing I crave ten months of the year.
Oh, how my heart went pitter-patter!
I couldn't resist those Creamy Caramel Nest Eggs. They taunted me, they called my name. To quote Jacques from Finding Nemo, "I am ashamed." (normally I wouldn't be, but I've been working with a nutritionist for the past 2-3 months and should abstain from such treats to make myself as delicious as the candies )
To all those interested - they are even creamier and caramelier than ever before. I am in love.

Every night before I go to bed, I consume a delicious and nutritious protein meal replacement drink.
Lately, as the winter weather has been chilling me to the bone, I have decided to make a sort of hot chocolate. I heat up the water, then add the powder and shake away.
Hot water makes steam, which makes pressure. Shaking adds pressure. Are you smellin' what I'm sniffin' at?
I had no idea 2 ounces of liquid (that was all that was missing from the container) could so fully and evenly coat an entire kitchen wall, counter, sink, cabinets, and wipe board. I spent twenty minutes cleaning and, a week later, I am still finding remnants of that fateful night. But, you have to admit, it was pretty funny:-)

Diet Dr. Pepper

Strange as it may seem, the grumpy pants are now off - *poof* - gone! Maybe it was the Diet Dr. Pepper I had during my lunch break? Just what the Doctor ordered!

Grumpy Pants

I have been wearing my grumpy pants for 4 days in a row now - technically 4.5. I keep trying to get out of my funk, as I know attitude is a decision most of the time, but I can't! These grumpy pants are not coming off! I've gotten myself so stressed about so many things and work is beyond stressful and chaotic - we are talking insane. I use all of my stress-management capabilities during work, so by the time 5 o'clock rolls around, I can't handle anything else. Then I have the stress of knowing I have to work out hard every day (if I didn't, I'd be more stressed), over-committing my schedule, doing one thing when I'd rather be doing something else, having to cook all my meals, knowing I won't be able to sleep because I am so stressed then being more stressed the next day because of the lack of sleep....well, you get the picture. I'm cracking. I'm so fried mentally I can't even think of a way to climb out of this hole. I know we've all been there and that now is just my turn, but I really really don't like my grumpy pants! They just don't fit me well.

When does one soap-up their hands? Before turning on the water? After?
I prefer after, but have observed quite a few "before's" recently...
Is there a protocol?

I believe I tempted the fates when I blogged about not much to blog about.
I am an idiot. Full-fledged, as a matter of fact.
I went to the gym with a dear friend on Saturday morning. I was chatting away, which is obviously a distraction, because I took about two steps away from the car while doing my traditional "pat down." You know, checking the pockets for the appropriate baggage.
No keys. In my ignition? Oh yes.

I would like us all to take a moment of silence to mourn the loss of my brain.

Now, I would like to dedicate some time to the fabulous Shayla! She left her workout, went to my house to pick up the spare key, brought it to the gym, and didn't make me feel crazy at all (even though she probably had a really good laugh about it). This girl is beyond amazing. When I think of exactly the kind of friend that is everything you could ask for - she is it - and then about 10 gazillion additional amazing things. She serves with such joy and love in her heart - and lets me do the same for her! Yeah for Shayla!

In the end, my friend and I were rescued. Not before I had to plead with the gym people to let me in without my pass (which they did because the recognized me as a regular) and embarrass myself a little more.
